Your bit about Pantone judges dying after making their selection actually made me laugh out loud. The way you describe Cloud Dancer as the color of a MacBook charger in its waning days is so spot on, but honestly, that's what makes the choice feel so painfully correct. Like we're all being told something we already knew but didn't want to admit.

Just watched Michael Bay’s The Island (2005) and cloud dancer is the perfect color to describe their hyper-designed athleisure uniforms worn at the beginning of the movie…I would even hazard to say The Island is the PMOTY (pantone movie of the year): a regurgitated y2k cyberchase thriller, amalgamated from the (more interesting, better-executed) sci-fi tropes of yore. Beginning to think the PCOTY committee is made up of imprisoned precogs, helpless as the rest of us!

I'm insane about this article. I know the following words can come off as ominous, especially with today's world, but: I want to write like you.

You and people like you are the reason I read and the reason I write, however mediocrilly. Articles like these are the reason I don't believe the LLMs can replace humanity; because where can something like this come from but the depths of complete human emotion? human insanity? humanity? An LLM can't feel and it is the tool for people who lack feeling and are too blaise to learn.

You make me want to learn feeling. How to shore my feelings up and arrange them into something like this.

I know this comment probably doesn't fit the tone of this article, the absurdist, hysterical grin it clutches my shoulders and presses into my face with, but I want you to know. I read it. I READ IT. You inspire me. I want to write like you. Nothing can replace you. You are absolutely right about Cloud Dancer.

Brilliantly unhinged poetry. Bravo.

What Pantone has done, is announce that we have entered the epoch of the Soft Catastrophe. The era where everything is technically fine, aesthetically minimalist, tastefully photographed… while the floor gives way beneath our feet in slow motion.

When I saw this news, instantly thought “straight jacket.” You may have just saved me from needing one.

Crazy work on this one, the bits with the overhead light and home ownership were spot on.

This is the kind of article that I think I would write after accidentally double-dosing on my ADHD meds. Consider me entertained. You may even picture me chortling.

I will be using your letter to Pantone (subsidiary of X-Rite, subsidiary of Veralto) as my Christmas card this year, thank you so much
